Letterhead from George A. Lowe Company. Based
in Ogden, Utah, this company was more noted for suppling farm machinery, wagons, and hardware, than mining supplies. Still,
the company did provide service to the mines and mining men across northern Utah.
There are two letterhead samples below. One dates from 1894 when Lowe was a primary supplier
of Schuttler Wagons. By 1905, the date of the second sample, the Schuttler reference had been dropped in favor of the simple
statement "Hardware Jobbers".

Offices were located in downtown Salt Lake City. Please not the color notice on the document, warning all customers that "After
Shipping Mdse. in good order, we are not responsible for damages. Your recourse is upon the Transportation Co.". I guess
thats clear enough!. This nice sample dates from 1883.

as elaborate or as colorful as the first, but it has other features that the first one does not. On either side of the company
logo or herald in the center are images of the downtown retail store and the company warehouse. This sample dates from 1896.

Utah. One of the premier hotels in Utah Valley, the Grant was "Headquarters For Traveling Men" according to this
beautifully illustrated masterpiece of a letterhead. One of the finest ever printed in early Utah. Images show the Hotel building, a sailboat on Utah
lake and a beautiful bald eagle perched on top of a spear. This outstanding sample dates from 1892.

Fresco Painter. What a sign writer has to do with mining may have crossed your mind, but yet it did! Most of the mining companies
had offices in downtown Salt Lake City. In this case the Boston & Newhouse Buildings, where it was the style of the day
to have glass in the front office doors. The names on the doors were all hand painted, and as the names of companies changed,
the doors had to be repainted. This sample is a billing statement for just that service. This statement dates from 1911.

Mining Machinery, Engineering Supplies and Gas Engines" This two-color printed letterhead on base canary yellow
paper makes a standout document. Obviously very custom in its creation. This sample dates from 1900.
