Modoc City was more a city in name than in reality
in it's early days. In August of 1873, the "city" was little more than an old logging cabin that served as the district
Recorder's office and a few other tent buildings. Nevertheless, it had daily passenger express and mail delivery and grew
a bit every day.(1)
