Ferguson Canyon

Ferguson Canyon is a popular hiking area in the summer, and equally popular for snow-shoeing in the winter. The canyon hike is not long, but parts are steep.

Utah's Lost Mines Legends: LOST FERGUSON GOLD MINE

There are two separate mining areas in the canyon, the upper and the lower. I am not sure of the exact name of the lower mines, so for now I'll just call them Ferg. 1, 2, & 3. I am sure that further research will tell the proper names.

The upper mine is the Cottonwood Golden Eagle. Images and a profile page are linked below.

Ferguson Canyon is reached by way of the trailhead in the subdivision just south of the mouth of Big Cottonwood Canyon. From Wasatch Blvd. at 7535 south, turn east onto Prospector Drive. The road immediately turns right (south) and begins climbing.

Following Prospector Drive south, turn left on the second road, Timberline Drive (7745 South at 3775 East) and go up the hill a short distance further. A small parking area is present on the right hand side of the road at the well marked trailhead.
