Mineral Survey Plat
Below is a copy of the Mineral Survey Plat for the Eclipse Mining
Claim, Big Cottonwood Mining District, Mineral District #5, Survey #56, Lot #92, Dated December 23, 1877. The original claim
covered just under 18 acres of ground.
Base Plat is from originals scans by the U.S. Department of the Interior, Bureau of Land Management (BLM).

What remains
No structures remain standing at this site, however, a number of pieces of machinery are still present. Having
said that, only the large compressor shown in the first image is readily accessible. The old hoist is present near the rim
of the collapsed shaft collar, but it is partly buried by dirt and rock sluffing off of the hillside from above.
Three
boiler or steam tanks are present but they lay jumbled as they are slowly sliding into the depression created about the old
shaft collar. In time they will be swallowed completely by this ever growing depression. Around the area you can find bits
of scattered metal of all sizes and shapes.
Note: The shaft is not visible, but a large depression marks its location.
It is not fenced, and caution must be used at all times. Though closed and filled with debris, do not trust that it will not
cave-in. Do not venture into the depression for any reason!
