The Wasatch Mine or Wasatch Gold Mine as it is also
known, was driven to work the Silver King and Regulator claims at depth. A long adit was driven some 3000 feet south-east
until it intersected the Silver King Fissure. The adit was then drifted to the south-west along the line of the fissure. Even
with the promising quartz vein found, little ore was present.
Worked over
the years by several different mining companies, ore in commercial quantities was never found. in total, 5000 feet of
workings yielded only some $50,000 in production.
Active work
ceased in the 1940's though some leasing operations were conducted in the 1950's.
Remaining surface structures at the Wasatch burned to the ground. It was sometime in the 1970's
or 80's I believe, but I'm still looking for exact information on when and how.
