The Rob Roy Mine in City Creek Canyon was little more than a prospect when brief mention was
made in an 1873 Salt Lake Daily Herald paper article. "...an
incline shaft is being run along a rock wall...to catch a deposit that is supposed to exist..." (1) Not exactly words that inspire
confidence.
Still, a month
later, notice would be given that "The Rob Roy is being
worked by the owners, and the showing is very encouraging."(2)
