TREASURE HOUSE RELICS Project
Stairs Gulch

Stairs Gulch is a steep, narrow, and rocky gulch that runs SSE from the main Big Cottonwood Canyon road above the Storm Mountain Geologic Site turn-out, and just below the Storm Mountain Picnic Area on the opposite side of the road.

The area is popular for rock climbing in the summer, and though hundreds of cars pass right near this area, very few people know how close to a mining site they really are.

None of the mines in this area were anything substantial, but they are/were there. At least one, possibly two for sure. Little is known of them, and I have been able to find nothing written about them.

They are the Stairy Gulch Mine, and what I call Storm Mountain Mine.
