The Julia Mine in City Creek Canyon was just getting started when a brief write-up in the Salt
Lake Daily Herald newspaper mentioned that the first 25 feet of the property's shaft had just been completed. A large shipping
quantity of iron ore was on the dump ready to go, and another contract for 50 more feet of work would be let as soon as possible.
That was August of 1873.
The exact
location of this mine is not yet known.
