The New Jersey Mine in City Creek Canyon was another property in the early days. Several brief
mentions of the property appear in the Salt Lake Herald, but none are very detailed. The August 1st issue states the "New Jersey...continues to show a larger and better grade of ore
the deeper the shaft is sunk". According to the article, "mine owners were determined to push
this valuable discovery with a view to thorough development." (1)
An later article tells of a contract that was let to sink a 100 foot shaft. Work on the shaft
was to begin on Thursday morning August 28, of that year. (2) The mine was sacking ore and preparing to ship by late September. (3)
No images of this mine are known.
The exact location of this mine is not yet known.
